Individual

As a member of the Urasenke Foundation San Francisco, you are offered a unique opportunity to savor the heart of the Way of Tea. All levels of Membership benefits include: mailings containing invitations to tea gatherings, lectures, and workshops on the Way of Tea and related arts; consultation and use of the library by appointment. Certain Membership levels also include the benefit of selected Tankosha publications.

Annual Membership Categories​
Basic $80
  • The Introductory Membership entitles the member to receive advance notice to lectures, special classes, and activities at reduced admission.

  • Use of the Foundation library by appointment.

  • Discounts on Tankosha publications.

  • Membership in this category is a prerequisite for all first-year students at the Foundation.

Continuing $260
  • Membership benefits for two persons.

  • A choice of (a) two Japanese-language, Chanoyu-related Tankosha publications, (b) a subscription to the monthly Japanese-language color    booklet Tanko Text, or (c) four passes to the monthly Open Hearth tea gatherings.

  • Foundation students are expected to become Continuing members after their first year.

Contributing $315
  • Membership benefits for two persons.

  • A choice of a year’s subscription to either (a) the monthly Japanese-  language Nagomi or (b) the monthly Japanese-language Tanko magazine.

  • Second-year students may choose to join at this level.

Sustaining $390
  • Membership benefits for two persons.

  • A choice of either (a) a year’s subscription to one of the Nagomi, Tanko, or Tanko Text magazines or (b) two Japanese-language, Chanoyu-related  Tankosha publications.

  • One complimentary Urasenke Chado Shiryokan exhibition catalogue per year.

Sponsor $500
  • Membership benefits for two persons.

  • Subscription to one of the Nagomi, Tanko, or Tanko Text magazines.

  • Two complimentary publications per year.

Patron $1000
  • Sustaining Membership benefits.

  • Use of the Foundation tearoom for one private tea gathering.

Corporate

As a corporate member of the Urasenke Foundation San Francisco, you are offered a unique opportunity to savor the heart of the Way of Tea and to provide funding for important educational programs. The Urasenke Foundation provides programs for schools from elementary through university. All schools are accepted; those lacking resources are funded from sources like corporate memberships. If your corporation is interested in more directly funding an educational program, please contact the Urasenke Foundation at 415.433.6553.
