The Foundation welcomes school groups (kindergarten through university) and other groups for online lecture-presentations. These occasions are individually designed to the interests of each group such as language, literature, aesthetics, philosophy, or history. Please telephone 415.433.6553 to make arrangements.
We also host seasonal events that are open to the public. No prior tea experience is needed and all are welcome. Please check this page for the latest event listings.

These popular tea gatherings are held in the tearoom inside the University Library, CSU Sacramento. The tearoom was named Karakuan 嘉楽庵 by Zabosai Oiemoto, sixteenth generation master of Urasenke Konnichian. Gatherings are open to University students and faculty as well as those who are interested in the Way of Tea. Reservations are necessary. Kagetsu lessons

Please join our quarterly Kagetsu lessons offered for students at the foundation and students currently studying at other places.
There will be two sessions in one day. The morning session will review the basics of Kagetsu like walking in the tea room, understanding the overall flow and timing of your movements. Advanced students may join the afternoon session where we will go over intermediate to advanced temae. You’re welcome to join half day ($45) or full day ($80). Please note that knowledge of basic tana koicha, thick tea, procedure is required to join Kagetsu lessons.

The Imagine Project

Join us for a rare opportunity to walk the famed labyrinth of Grace Cathedral, a sacred journey inward that mirrors the outward call for peace in our world.
Following the walk, we will share the story of The Imagine Project — a international initiative in honor of Dr. Sen Genshitsu, the 15th general Grand Master of the Urasenke Tea Tradition and inspired by John & Yoko’s timeless vision of world peace.
We invite you to receiver a bowl of tea — offered in the spirit of harmony, respect, purity, tranquility, and hope as we imagine peace together.
